Ballot Question Five: Should the minimum wage for tipped workers increase?

By Meghan Boucher

During the 2024 election cycle, Massachusetts had five questions on its ballot. Question five asked whether employers should be required to pay tipped workers the full state minimum wage over five years. A yes vote would increase the hourly tipped minimum wage. A no vote would keep things as is. Restaurant workers in Boston shared their thoughts on the issue.

Update:

This package originally aired live on WEBN’s 2024 Live Election show. Since then, most Massachusetts voters voted no, keeping the law as is.
